Technical Writing and Projects

My undergraduate thesis traces the history of Dragon Magazine; the premier publication for TSR Inc., who developed the Dungeons and Dragons roleplaying game. The paper examines the interplay of TSR business practices and the success of the magazine through the lens of publications. I make an argument that Dragon Magazine was not just an advertisement vehicle, but was a lens into roleplaying culture and TSR business practices throughout its history.

The paper is written in and cited in Chicago writing style, the standard for historical research writing. The paper pulls nearly entirely from Dragon magazine publications, with only a couple of secondary sources to provide color and context within the story.
The Arcane Engine is a tabletop role-playing game. It is an extensive project that I've been developing since my first year of college. It is a very personal creation that I hope to publish in the future when I have the means to pay for a publishing run.

I have re-written portions of my original document to practice using two large industry tools: Oxygen XML Editor and Madcap Flare. Below I have provided a link to a pdf file generated using Oxygen, and a web based document using Flare.
The PokeAPI is an open-source RESTful API for retrieving large amounts of data about the Pokemon games and world. The API includes a large number of data endpoints, but having no sophisticated security it supports only the GET method for all of its data.

I have produced an API specification file written in YAML and presented using Swagger UI and Redoc.
Billing System is a very simple Java applet meant for small businesses who need a free and simple billing management tool. It is still very early in its development.

I took the liberty to test out my software documentation skills by fixing the Github Wiki on the project with a better and more cohesive user guide. The link below is to my Github fork.
The Bridgeport I Series milling machine is the industry standard milling machine.

I built this document as an intro to the Bridgeport milling machine to practice visually interesting technical document design. This is buit using Adobe Creative Suite.
I designed a number of ads and flyers to drive Bobcat Band membership and advertise various band events. This is a typical example of the types of advertisements I created.
